Vehicle details, photo and stored MOT history

This page is for anyone who has clicked a vehicle in the Vehicles list and wants to know what the vehicle window shows and what they can change.

What does the vehicle window contain?

Click a row on the Vehicles list. A window opens titled "Vehicle - " plus the registration. It has two tabs: Details and History. At the bottom are two buttons, Submit and Close. The window can be dragged and, on a phone, resizes to fit the screen.

What fields are on the Details tab?

The Details tab shows these fields, all read-only and greyed out: Registration, Make, Model, First Used Date, Fuel Type, Primary Colour, Engine Size, Vehicle Identification Number, Registration Date and Manufacture Date.

You cannot edit any of them. The values come from the DVSA vehicle record and the test logs. If a value is wrong, it has to be corrected at source.

Can I add a photo of the vehicle?

Yes. The Details tab shows the vehicle photo above the VIN. To change it:

1. Click Browse under the photo.
2. Choose a .png, .jpg or .jpeg file. Other file types are not accepted.
3. MOTLogs resizes the picture to fit within 640 by 480 pixels and shows a preview.
4. Click Submit at the bottom of the window.

On success a confirmation message appears and the new photo is shown. To discard a chosen photo before saving, click the red remove icon beside the preview.

If the save fails, a toast message says "save vehicle" could not be completed, or reports a network problem. Close the window and try again.

Clicking Submit with no new photo re-saves the vehicle unchanged. It does no harm.

What is on the History tab?

The History tab lists the MOT tests stored against the vehicle. It is the same table described in Reading a vehicle's MOT history.

This history is a stored copy saved when MOTLogs last fetched it from the DVSA, not a live lookup. If the vehicle has just had a new test, it may not appear here yet. For the latest data, use the registration search described in Looking up a registration. If MOTLogs has no stored history for the vehicle, the tab shows "No MOT history for this vehicle."
