What is monthly sign-off
This page is for Authorised Examiners, consultants and station owners who want to know what monthly sign-off is and why MOTLogs asks for it.
What is monthly sign-off?
Monthly sign-off is a record that someone responsible has reviewed a station's MOT test log for a calendar month and confirmed it. Each station is signed off separately for each month. MOTLogs describes it on the Monthly sign-off page as: "Confirm each site's MOT log for
What does a sign-off record?
When you sign off a station and month, MOTLogs saves:
- Your comments, as consultant and/or Authorised Examiner.
- Your drawn signature and your confirmation that you are happy.
- A signed PDF document containing the month's MOT test list and the Test Quality Information (TQI) figures for the station.
- Who signed and when. The Monthly sign-off page shows this as the name and short date, for example
A. Smith ยท 3 Aug.
After saving, MOTLogs sends an email detailing the sign-off.
Who can sign off?
Requires the Authorised Examiner or Authorised Examiner Delegate role (or the Consultant role, for comments only). Other people can see the Monthly sign-off page but see the note "Only an Authorised Examiner or Consultant can sign off." instead of a button. See Who can sign off, and what each role can do.
What must be true before a site can be signed off?
Every test flagged as at risk for the month needs a comment. Until then the site shows Needs justification. See Sign-off statuses.
