The four key figure tiles

This page is for anyone who wants to know what the four tiles at the top of the Compliance overview measure, what the arrows and colours mean, and how the small trend lines work.

What does the "Tests this period" tile show?

Tests this period is the number of MOT tests recorded in the chosen month for the chosen stations, for all vehicle classes. The change line, for example +38 (+9%) vs Jul, compares with the previous month. It appears only when MOTLogs has the previous month's data. The change is shown in grey, because more or fewer tests is not good or bad on its own.

What does the "At-risk · unreviewed" tile show?

At-risk · unreviewed counts tests that are flagged and have no justification yet. A test counts when it is not yet reviewed and either the system highlighted it or its risk score is above 25. A risk score of 90 or more is rated High. Adding a comment (justifying the test) stops it counting.

The tile turns to its risk style when the number is above zero. Select the small i button beside the tile to read the rule in a pop-up. Press Esc to close it.

The change line, for example +3 flagged vs Aug, compares the number of flagged tests with last month, and a rise is shown as bad (red), a fall as good (green). That comparison counts every flagged test in each month, justified or not, so it can differ from the tile's own number.

What does the fail rate tile show?

The label is Fail rate (Group B) until a national figure is available, then Fail rate vs national. The value is the proportion of Group B tests (vehicle classes 3, 4, 5 and 7) that failed in the chosen month. The figure after the slash, for example / 28.6%, next to it is the DVSA national average from your TQI file. The change line shows the gap in percentage points, such as +1.4 pts vs national (classes 3, 4, 5, 7); being above national is shown as bad.

If no TQI is loaded for the month, the value stands alone and the national comparison is absent. If the latest TQI is for an earlier month, the note reads vs national (Jun 2026). A dash means the figure could not be worked out. The tile shows a placeholder for a moment longer than the others, because it loads after them.

What does "Avg test duration" show?

Avg test duration is the mean recorded test time in whole minutes for the month, counting only tests that have a duration. It has two change lines: vs Aug (against last month) and vs national (against the national average test time from your TQI file, when it has one). Both are shown in grey: a longer or shorter test is not scored as good or bad. A very short or long average can point to rushed or padded tests, so use it as a prompt to look.

How do I read the small trend line?

Tiles with enough history draw a six-month line, with the selected month on the right. Hover over a point to read the month and value. A month with no data leaves a gap rather than a zero. A line is drawn only when at least two of the six months have data.
