Reading the Compliance overview
This page is for garage owners, Authorised Examiners (AEs), quality control managers and testers who want to know what the Compliance overview shows and what to look at first.
What is the Compliance overview?
The Compliance overview is the first page you see after signing in to MOTLogs, at /membersarea/overview. It gives you a one-screen summary of one month of MOT testing for the organisation and stations you have chosen. It is a summary only. Each card links to a full page where you can work in detail.
From top to bottom, the page contains:
- A header with the title Compliance overview, a freshness line and a verdict line.
- A controls row: Organisation, Station, a month strip and the sign-off button.
- A summary strip (one sentence of headline findings, for example
3 at-risk tests need review · fail rate 1.2 pts under national). - The Getting set up checklist (only for new or incomplete accounts).
- Four key figure tiles: Tests this period, At-risk · unreviewed, the fail rate tile and Avg test duration.
- The Needs review card and the Tester comparison card.
- The TQI vs national card.
See Key figure tiles, Needs review, Tester comparison and TQI vs national for each part.
What does the verdict line under the title mean?
The verdict line sums up the month in one sentence. It is empty when the chosen month has no tests.
No at-risk tests in 412means no test in the month was flagged.9 of 412 tests at-risk (2.2%) · 4 justifiedcounts every flagged test in the month, including ones you have already justified. The number after the dot is how many of those already have a justification.sign-off blockedis added when at least one flagged test still has no justification.ready to sign offis added when nothing is outstanding and the sign-off checks have loaded.Signed off 14 Sep by <name>(one station) orAll sites signed off(several) is added when the month is already signed off.
The verdict counts flagged tests whether or not they are justified, so its first number can be higher than the number on the At-risk · unreviewed tile, which only counts tests still waiting for a reason.
How fresh is the data on the overview?
The overview shows the data MOTLogs has received, not a live feed from DVSA. Data only changes when you upload logs.
The freshness line under the title reads like Data to 31 Jul · last upload 3 days ago · 2 sites · Jul 2026:
Data tois the date of the newest test in the chosen month.last uploadis how many days ago the newest log file was received (today, yesterdayorN days ago).- The site count is the number of stations that have tests in the month.
- The last item is the month you are looking at.
MOTLogs keeps what it has fetched for about 90 seconds per organisation, station and month, so a change made elsewhere (for example a justification saved on another page) can take up to 90 seconds to appear. Uploading logs from the overview refreshes everything straight away. The figures are not updated while you leave the page open; reload the page or change the month to refresh.
What does "Data is N days old" mean?
When the newest upload is more than 35 days old, an amber badge reads ⚠ Data is N days old next to an Upload logs button. It means MOTLogs has not received a log file for over five weeks, so recent tests will be missing and at-risk tests cannot be flagged. Select Upload logs to open the upload panel at the top of the page, then follow the on-screen steps.
