Choosing organisation, station and month, and searching
This page is for anyone using MOTLogs with more than one organisation or station. It explains the scope picker in the top bar and the search box that jumps to pages and looks up registrations.
What is the scope picker?
The scope picker is the chip at the top left of the page, such as Garage Ltd · High Street · Sep 2026. It sets the organisation, station and month for every page in the same section, so you do not have to choose again on each page.
It only appears on pages that use a scope (for example Compliance and the section pages), and only when you belong to at least one organisation. On other pages the bar shows your organisation and station as plain text.
How do I change organisation, station or month?
- Select the scope chip. A Choose scope panel opens.
- Choose an Organisation from the list.
- Choose a Station. The list updates for the organisation you chose.
- Choose a Month.
- Click outside the panel or press Esc to close it.
Each change applies at once. While it loads the note reads Updating...; otherwise it reads Applies to every page in this section. The Month list covers the last 36 months, newest first.
How do I search for a page?
Select the search box (placeholder Search or enter a reg) or press / or Ctrl K (⌘ K on a Mac). A list opens. Type part of a page name and use the up and down arrows and Enter, or click a row.
| Row group | Examples |
|---|---|
| Go to | Compliance overview, Performance, MOT test logs, At-risk tests, Monthly sign-off, Testers, TQI, Test stations, Organisations, Vehicles, Documents, Certificates, Billing, Profile |
| Action | Upload logs, Toggle theme, Help, Keyboard shortcuts |
| Saved view | Any saved view you have created |
If nothing matches you see No matches. Press Esc to close the list.
How do I look up a registration?
Type a UK registration into the same search box, with or without a space (for example AB12 CDE). It must be 2 to 8 characters. MOTLogs shows:
- Our tests: tests with that registration on the page you have loaded, which you can open directly.
- MOT history: a row for the plate. Select it to open an MOT History for (registration) dialog.
With an empty box, the list also shows your last five plates under Recent. Recent plates are kept on that browser only.
A word that contains no digits, such as a page name, is never treated as a registration.
What if the search does nothing?
- The Our tests rows only cover tests the current page has already loaded. To find an older test, change the Month in the scope picker first.
- On a phone, the search box opens from the Search tab at the bottom and closes when you tap away.
