The Needs review card

This page is for quality control managers, AEs and testers who work through flagged tests from the Compliance overview.

What does the Needs review card list?

The Needs review card lists at-risk tests that still have no justification, for the chosen organisation, station and month. The number beside the title is the total. A test is at-risk when it has not been reviewed and either the system highlighted it or its risk score is above 25.

The table columns are Vehicle (the registration, or the VIN if there is none), Tester, Site, Reason, When and a Review button. Rows are ordered High first, then by risk score, then newest first. The card shows 8 rows, or 60 when Group by tester is on. The footer reads Showing 8 of 23. Select View all to open the MOT test log filtered to at-risk tests, on the same organisation, station and month.

What do the Reason labels and the HIGH and MED badges mean?

The Reason badge names the strongest cause of the flag and carries a severity badge, HIGH or MED. HIGH means the system highlighted the test or its risk score is 90 or more. MED means the score is above 25 but below 90.

Reason names include Outside declared hours, Outside working hours, Lunchtime test, Ramp overlap, Undeclared IP, IP mismatch, Abort reason set, Recorded by other user, Tester recorded test, Contingency test, Login not 2FA, Browser or cookie changed, Brake test entry, Emissions entry, Test duration short and Test duration long. The label Flagged is used when no single cause stands out. Time reasons add the time of day, for example Lunchtime · 12:40. Duration reasons add the test time and the tester's usual time, for example Short · 9 min vs 43, when that tester has at least three timed tests in the month.

How do I filter or group the list?

When more than one reason is present, a row of chips lets you filter by reason, each with its count. All clears the filter. The Group by tester switch puts each tester's tests together under a heading such as SMITH123 4 at-risk tests, with the tester with the most tests first.

How do I justify one test?

Select Review on a row to open the flagged-test drawer for that vehicle, where you can read the details and save a justification. The drawer also has controls to move to the next flagged test in the list. If you choose to justify from the drawer, MOTLogs opens the MOT test log on that test, where the justification is saved.

How do I justify several tests at once?

  1. Tick the box beside each vehicle, a tester heading, or the box in the Vehicle column header to select every row shown.
  2. A bar reads N selected. Select Justify selected (N).
  3. Write one reason in the box. It is applied to each selected test.
  4. Select Justify selected (N) again, or press Ctrl+Enter.

The tests are saved one by one with a progress bar (Saving 3 of 12...). A failure does not stop the rest. Failed tests stay selected and are listed as <registration>: <message>. Press Esc to close the box when nothing is saving. Only tests visible on the card (the first 8, or 60 when grouped) can be ticked.
