Linking a test station to your organisation

This page is for garage owners and Authorised Examiners (AEs) who need to add a test station to MOTLogs, check whether it is verified, or remove it.

Where do I see and manage my test stations?

Open Test stations in the sidebar, under the Stations group. The page is headed Test stations with the line "Choose an organisation and station to add or review stations".

The page has two selectors at the top, Organisation and Station, and a grid of the stations already linked. The grid shows the stations for the organisation you choose, not all your organisations at once. Until you choose an organisation the grid stays empty.

The grid columns are Station Name, Station ID (the site number), Created On, Package and Organisation. Use the Search box in the grid toolbar to find a station, and the column chooser to show or hide columns. If nothing is linked you see "No test stations linked yet."

How do I add a test station?

You need an organisation first. See Creating and editing an organisation.

1. Open Test stations.
2. In Organisation, choose the organisation that runs the station. Only organisations you have accepted appear in this list.
3. In Station, pick the station. The list is enabled only after you have chosen an organisation. Type part of the site number to filter it, because the list filters on the Station ID, not the name.
4. Select Add Station. The button appears only when both an organisation and a station are chosen.

MOTLogs shows "This Site is now linked to the organisation." The station appears in the grid, unverified.

If the station you want is not in the Station list, the list footer says "The station may not be present if created in the last 3 months". Check again later.

Why is my new station "unverified" and how do I verify it?

A newly linked station cannot be opened until it is verified. If you click the row, MOTLogs says "Sorry you cannot view this data until verified. Please check back later."

Verification is an automated phone call to the telephone number held for the station. To start it, select the Click to verify icon (a tick in a badge) at the start of the row. MOTLogs shows "Verification will starts shortly".

The call says: "Press 1 to verify that organisation can manage station, or press 0 if not."

• Press 1 and the station becomes verified.
• Press 0 and the number is blacklisted. Any later verification attempt to it fails with "Sorry this telephone number is black listed".

The call goes to the station's telephone number on record, not to your own phone. Someone at the station must answer. If the station has no number on record, or the number is blacklisted, you cannot verify the station yourself. Contact MOTLogs support.

The Click to verify icon disappears once the station is verified.

How do I open a verified station?

Click anywhere on a verified station's row. A dialog titled "Test Station - station name" opens with the station's details. See Editing a test station's details.

How do I remove a test station, or bring it back?

Removing a station ends the link between the station and your organisation. It does not delete the station or its history.

• For an unverified station, select the Click to remove icon (a minus in a circle). MOTLogs shows "This Site is now been removed from this organisation."
• For a verified station, open the station and select Remove the link to this test station on the Details tab.
• To see removed stations, select Removed at the right of the grid toolbar. A removed station shows a Click to reinstate icon (a plus in a circle). Selecting it relinks the station and shows "This Site is now linked to the organisation."

What is the card icon on the station row?

A Click to pay icon (a credit card) appears on a verified station that has no package yet. Selecting it opens a dialog headed "Package - station name" where you choose a package. Once the station has a package, its name shows in the Package column and the card icon disappears.
